Learn more about the tooth bridges procedure by watching this video
CLICK HERETooth bridges, just like dental crowns, are prosthetic devices. The tooth bridges are placed onto existing teeth or implants, these are permanent. The bridge is made up of two dental crowns to work as anchors, in between these crowns or anchors, a false tooth is placed. This teeth can be made out of several materials, like metal, porcelain or combination of both.
The tooth bridges will help you restore your smile, will restore the natural chew ability of your mouth by distributing the force in your bite and also preventing the your natural teeth from damaging or shifting positions. The imbalance of a missing tooth can cause gum disease, and even pain when you bite or chew your food.
In order to place the bridge, the tooth or teeth that will hold the crown anchor for the artificial tooth must be reduced in size for it to fit in properly. This will also make room or space for the new tooth. We then take an impression of your teeth, this will help as a model for the bridge to be made by our laboratory.
We will make a temporary bridge for you to use and protect your exposed teeth and gums while our laboratory makes the final product.
For your second visit, we will remove the temporary bridge, the new and permanent bridge is then prepared, verified and adjusted for a perfect fit. Depending on each case, multiple visits may be required to achieve a perfect fit of the bridge. Sometimes, we'll temporary cement the bridge in place to later (two or three weeks to allow final adjustments if necessary) have it permanently cemented into place.
Until you get used to the bridge, we suggest to have your food cut into small pieces, this will make the process easier for you.
